Area attractions

The history of St. Louis has been heavily influenced by Westward expansion and blues music. The big "must-see" in this region is the Gateway Arch, while other important sites include the Museum of Westward Expansion, the St. Louis Cathedral. The city of St Louis offers plenty for the whole family. It’s no secret St. Louis is one of the best cities in the country when it comes to free stuff to do. We’re not talking about the small stuff you’ll find in other cities, but major attractions like the world-class St. Louis Zoo.

But don’t forget there’s also the Science Center, the Art Museum and more. It doesn’t matter if you’ve lived in St. Louis all your life or you’re new to the area, these top attractions are worth a visit.

Missouri Botanical Gardens

Tower Grove Park

Tower Grove Park has something for everyone. The park is home to softball, soccer and tennis courts, as well as plenty of sidewalks for joggers and stroller derby moms. The Park also sponsors weekly events such as Friends of Tower Grove Park Children’s Concert Series on Monday nights and their very own Farmer’s Market.

Forest park

Besides Forest Park and Tower Grove Park, there are many other parks in St. Louis. In the south city is Carondelet Park, the third largest in St. Louis, right off the hwy 55 exit at Loughborough. In the Lafayette Square area, just north of 44 and 55 (Truman blvd exit) is Lafayette Park. In the Southwest part of the city are Wilmore and Francis parks. The largest parks feature walking and bicycle paths. On most weekends and during daylight hours during the week, there are St. Louisans out enjoying their parks, walking dogs, pushing baby carriages, playing soccer , baseball or football, in leagues or just impromptu. Some St. Louisans might say that St. Louis parks are one of St. Louis' most popular 'hidden' attractions.
